A life out of the box
My early life was marked by a strong work ethic and a didiction to excellence. In 1986, I had experienced firsthand the rewards of hard work when my team 'CAPITO KLÜBER' won the Paris-Dakar race, one
of the most challenging and demanding off-road races in the world.
This experience instilled me deep sense of determination and a passion for success that would serve me well in my future endeavors. After my racing career, I began working for one of the first German MICE companies, where I quickly established myself in the industry.
Under the guidance of my mentor Peter Otto, I honed my skills as an event manager and developed a reputation for delivering exceptional spectacles.
Over the corse of my career, I have been involved in some most high-profile and prestigious events, such as Olympic Games, Football World Championship, and Race Of Champions. An earlier career highlight was my work with TUI Sports and airtours incentives (TUI Group).
Today with over 30 years of experience in the event industry, I continues to push the boundaries if what is possible, creating unforgettable experiences. In recent years I found my exceptional centre of activities in Saudi Arabia, where I am working as a long-term consultant with Sela, the leading event management and production company in the region.
Too Much for Small Talk. So I Wrote a Book: DAS BUCH!
Some lives follow a carefully prepared plan. Mine rarely did—and looking back, I am grateful for every unexpected turn.
DAS BUCH! is not a conventional autobiography. It is a collection of personal memories from more than six decades: stories of adventure, friendship, family, success and failure—and of those decisive moments when life suddenly changes direction without asking permission.
It tells of cars and aircraft, African deserts and icy glaciers, encounters with whales, remarkable people and major international events. It recalls the triumph of winning the Paris–Dakar Rally, but also the setbacks, doubts and mistakes that taught me far more than any victory ever could.
There are stories from behind the scenes of motorsport and large-scale productions, where technology failed at precisely the wrong moment, carefully prepared plans became worthless and improvisation was the only workable solution. Often, these were the moments when teamwork, trust, humour and a healthy dose of optimism made the impossible possible.
But this book is not only about travelling the world or creating extraordinary events. It is also about family, lifelong friendships and the responsibility to give something back. Some of the most meaningful chapters began far away from racetracks and spotlights—in places where a helping hand could genuinely change a young person’s life.
Above all, DAS BUCH! is about curiosity, courage and the willingness to take the next step, even when the destination is still unknown. Because life rarely follows the route we carefully map out—and perhaps that is exactly where its magic begins.
